The large 8' X 8' bathroom was located across from the kitchenette. The back wall was pierced with a frosted window and a magnetically secured screen, the first we'd seen so far on our 3 week journey. Above the counter was a shelf holding the microwave oven and a glass front cupboard holding glassware and place settings for 4 persons. On the counter above the fridge was a kettle and coffee/tea makings. Other below counter cupboards held a swing away trash can, a toaster, self-closing drawers holding eating utensils and excellent quality cooking pots with glass lids. Below the counter was a fridge loaded with a supply of milk. Continuing on the left, at the back of the room was an excellent kitchenette complete with a hard counter, stainless steel sink, a bamboo cutting board and a built-in 2 burner, glass topped hotplate. Opposite the bed was a hard top pedestal table, bolted to the wall, complete with 2 modern chairs. Beside the desk, in the corner, we found a hanging closet with hangars and drawers below, an ironing board and iron. Beyond the bed was a desk with phone and guest information book. A pair of night table cubes with side lights flanked the bed. We found the bed very comfortable and slept very well. Next to that loveseat was a queen-sized bed with excellent quality sheeting, lots of pillows and a covered duvet. To our left, opposite the loveseat was a luggage shelf with a flat screen television mounted above on the wall. Inside, on our right, was a leatherette love seat/pullout bed. The whole face of each unit was tinted glass. The units had slider doors unlocked with a key. Some half barrels of plantings between units decorated the concrete walkway. The modern motel units were arranged in a U shape behind the front office/home with ample perpendicular parking in front of the units. Their instructions for the facilities and directions to local attractions were brief, clear and informative while providing a map. Their welcome was genuine, their attention to the paperwork necessaries was quick and efficient. If you were to look up "hospitality" in a dictionary, you would see the pictures of our hosts, Pete and Sue there. It's location in a grove of trees further assures quiet. It is in easy walking distance to the information centre across the street, the spa pools, and the eateries, grocery and attractions of downtown. Aspen Court Motel is one street off and parallel to the main thoroughfare of Franz Joseph.
